Theodore Roosevelt, like Winston Churchill, can only be fairly viewed in the context of his time. To do otherwise is grossly unfair. As far as eugenics, it was the dominant theory of its day, embraced by progressives at the time. But, in the end TR was devoted to the notion of fairness. He wrote of all immigrants, that they must be accepted, but ONLY if they fully embraced our culture, our laws and our mores. Even today, that holds true as wise policy, as we see the destruction wrought by the importation of third world denizens who refused to give up the savagery and barbarity of their culture. Also remember that TR had Booker Washington to dinner at the White House, and even had dialogues with WEB du Bois. So his dedication to fairness was a touchstone of his life.

I know. It bothers me that so many want to cancel someone who really is a Great American Hero.

Bruce Miller's avatar

Worse still, the fools who would cancel Churchill - the greatest man of the 20th Century and the reason we are not all goose stepping and shrieking "Banzai!"

Michelle Styles's avatar

Yes they are all of the same ilk. They tried it with Nelson as well. It is all about destroying those people a nation requires for its sense of pride.

Of course the Royal Mint intend to take historical figures and places off the bank notes. The 'public consultation' was rigged.

Bruce Miller's avatar

The hero of Trafalgar? Good grief. The stupidity never ends........

Michelle Styles's avatar

Precisely because of that. It is disingenuous.

BTW have you ever stayed at the White Hart Inn in Lewes Sussex -- it is where Thomas Paine wrote Common Sense and ran the Headstrong Club. They have a plaque which says -- One of the Cradles of the American Revolution. A pub there is called the Rights of Men.

I think I've dined at a White Hart but I believe it was in the Cotswolda

Eugenics is a very tempting philosophy. After all, we've always bred animals to improve them, and "making better humans" has been the goal of education for a very, very long time.

But treating humans like animals is ultimately little different from enslaving them. Especially when "making better humans" does not focus on improving education, but trends instead towards involuntary sterilization. (As an aside, have you noticed the new 'eugenicist' pursuits of the Left? Transing children. Discouraging childbearing.)

On the subject of animal breeding, we appear to have ceased to 'improve' animals and instead are distorting physical characteristics without any regard for the animals' health. An immoral world can't even stop destroying quality of life for animals for its own pleasure. (While Leftists hypocritically demand that we stop eating meat.)

I think I have found the reason the SNP is so crazy. Beer. As in too much consumed by the denizens of Scotland. https://sports.yahoo.com/articles/scotland-fans-drink-boston-bars-095144991.html

Oh and For Women Scotland have just won their latest case. It was unlawful for the Scottish government to house male prisoners on the female estate. Confirming what Elizabeth Fry fought for 200 years ago was right. https://x.com/ForWomenScot/status/2067926338590134334

That made me laugh!

Even child-level history when I was a child was very clear that Mr T Roosevelt's childhood set the pattern for not merely meeting but overcompensating for physical challenges. A remarkable child who became an exemplary man.

The puberty blocker horsepoop has GOT to be criminal somehow. Aren't there any really tenacious lawyers in Britain?

Michelle Styles's avatar

The lawyers are trying -- hence the judicial review.

T Roosevelt's childhood and his refusal to consider himself in any way disabled should be an example to everyone.

TR! Yes. An icon of what an upstanding American male should aspire to.

His father was almost more impressive. It just really bothers me that people have tried to cancel him even though he was probably the original reformer.

Hello Northumberland! Good to see You again this fine Friday. Just got back from my daily constitutional. Nice walking weather.

Not good weather for Starmer. I'm glad to see the Aberdeen result. Kemi is great. And I'm glad to see the Greens lose support. The Labour situation is interesting.

That is a horrible incident involving the 3-year-old boy.

I liked Lord Roberts op ed. TY for the info on Teddy Roosevelt. I, too, hope the FTC wins their lawsuit against WPATH. But am sorry to hear about the clinical trial. Glad to see SEEN in Publishing.

And great to see Paddy looking so good. Hope the writing goes faster. I'm looking forward to Your next book. And TY, Michelle, as always.

SO lovely to see you this stormy Friday JT.

Where is Andy Burnham on Defense, Migration, Free Speech? That is to say,m what should Britain and the World expect from a Burnham government?

Michelle Styles's avatar

Burnham is another shapeshifter. He does support stronger defence -- he is one of the main reasons why so much defence work has moved to the North West (him and the former defence secretary Ben Wallace who was an MP in that area). As mayor he ensured deals get over the line basically. https://www.gchq.gov.uk/section/locations/manchester

The Greater Manchester police chief has actually done wonders -- he is v non-woke and back to the basics. He has a close working relationship with Burnham and has influenced his thinking

It looks like he would keep Mahmood as Home Sec.

Tugendhat had a good piece yesterday: https://substack.com/inbox/post/200427645

I like Tugendhat. He is one of the triumvirate Jarvis, Carns and Tugendhat served together.

Was the British man from Norfolk who threw the kid into the crocodile pit, a euphemism or code? Or was he truly a British man named Clive whose ancestors fought in the war of the roses.

And I’ve seen where Brits are shocked by the grooming report. I can’t really read much about it because it’s so awful but anyone who was paying attention should have known what was happening albeit perhaps not at that scale. But all the elements were known. It was Muslims who were doing it. It was white girls that it was done to. It was parents of the white girls who were threatened with arrest for reporting it. It shocks me that no one has been brought to account and that those who broadcast the atrocities, like Tommy Robinson, were and are still considered the villains. What a country.

Michelle Styles's avatar

Lots of people have been brought to account -- several of the grooming gangs are behind bars. I know people who prosecuted them.

The scale has been an open secret for awhile, certainly since the Jay report. Most of the areas where it happened were Labour controlled.

The people who have not been held to account are the local councillors and the police.

This was a good article on why Lowe's report (admirable in many ways) missed. He makes no mention of the biradari system which now operates like organised criminal gangs. It is how to stamp the thing out. A bit like how do you deal with the Mafia. The girls are just one part of a sordid and corrupt web. https://x.com/ollieparrot/status/2067192069521650052

The only other information that has come out about the "British man from Norfolk" was that he was intellectually disabled and his caregiver had apparently left him unattended. Due to his disability, the cops have decided to let him loose instead of keeping him in jail.

Michelle Styles's avatar

They are interviewing the carers who could be guilty of neglect and other charges. He will be that disabled that he would not be fit plead etc. He will be in care and whoever is in charge of looking after him will have to do more.

The people at fault are the carers whom the local authority hired to ensure his safety and the safety of others.
