Thanks for The Telegraph link for Sean Rayment's story on Phil Shiner. Shiner really is worse than an evil rat. It is amazing how the grunts - foot soldier's - always get played for monsters by the Left whenever they actually disagree with the government's policy. And of course, policy makers always get away Scot free (and to their high end restaurants for the Welsh Labour folks), rarely if ever to face the dock for their decisions, Let's hope Shiner does to to the hoosegow and does whatever is hard time in a British prison (maybe where they used to keep the IRA guys, but don't get me started on that ... )
But also, the article reminded me of the source of the mother tongue with terms such as "vertiginous fall" and "bilious response". That is just great and descriptive writing - and in a newspaper, for god's sake!
It was good that Rayment always suspected a rat. And yes sometimes the squaddies are idiots (or as Wellington put it -- Scum of the earth, God love them) but they didn't deserve that.
My dh still keeps on me about booking the Air BnB on Shankill Parade Road... Looking back on it, it was an act of bravery but the Troubles are supposed to be over (even if things simmer underneath. The taxi driver was not too happy about taking us there).
The UK does have a number of high security prisons but in all likelihood, he will go to a low security one as his wasn't a violent crime -- even if it did destroy good people's lives. At least he has been shown to be a fraud and a cheat.
Thanks Michelle, informative as always! I can't help but think of the herculean rescue efforts for that poor dog, while people are still trapped, suffering and dying here in the southeastern US in aftermath of Hurricane Helene. The current situation seems to be mostly due to a complete failure of government on multiple levels. Apparently a great deal of media censorship around the real situation on the ground as well. Pretty scary writing on the wall, expecially after the cluster**** with the Maui disaster. If government 'aid' is only going to make disaster situations even worse, then what good are they at all? Obviously am quite disgusted this am. Good on JK once again, who continues to be an outstanding hero in the face of insanity. About giving military installations basically back to the Chinese, all I can say is, par for the course with what has been going on in the US for sometime now. Chinese nationals have purchased huge tracts of farmland near and around US military installations. Not suspicious at all. And while I have no personal investment in the Shiner situation per se, I am very glad that to hear for once, justice may well be served to one of the toxic idiots at the top of the heap.
OH I thought of you this morning when I read the daily Attagirl post -- Lily always posts about generally overlooked women. It was about Lucy Tayiah Eads (tribal name Cha-Me) who was born on this day in 1888. I suspect you already know all about her and what she did. First tribal chief of the Kaw. https://x.com/TheAttagirls/status/1842089807456895279
Once I heard of the disaster, I fully expected the US to mess up as that area isn't used to hurricanes. Apparently FL has managed brilliantly as they do have a good emergency crisis preparedness but I suspected SC and NC would struggle. I had hoped that I would be wrong and take no pleasure in being right. I hope everything gets sorted sooner rather than later.
Thanks for the heads up about Lucy Eades. How the heck did she juggle nursing, 9 kids and a Chief's duties? Women back then in Indian Territory were simply superhuman imo. I didn't know about her. There are currently 38 different federally recognized tribes in OK. The five so-called civilized tribes, of which the Cherokee are the largest, tend to dominate native politics and land, so I know nothing about the Kaws.
I was glad to read that Shiner is gonna get some-a what's coming to him. He can never repay the damage he's done for the benefit of his personal greed.
That was an interesting story on JK Rowling, and the stand they all took. But it was sad to read about how mental health issues have gotten worse, especially among young women. Sad about the CLF.
That was an amazing story about saving the dog.
That was also great to hear You and Your daughter had such a good time in Dublin. Nice prize Paddy got outta it.
Unless it is cat food. He is always happy to share the cats' dishes after they have finished.
Cat food pouches are a 'high value' treat for him and were actually easier to carry around when I was doing the remedial recall training than chicken or ham. I was surprised how into cat food he is.

The Telegraph can have some good writing.

JKR has suggested that she might start a literary festival. I hope she does. https://x.com/jk_rowling/status/1842140389270020167 She has just been brilliant on this.
I am pleased about the Shiner thing. So much money wasted. So many good names trashed. A small measure of justice.

How Lily (Attagirls) finds these women, I have no idea but they are interesting. I look forward to her posts each day.
She must have been super organized. Some women are just Forces of Nature and I suspect she was one of them.
Hello Northumberland! Good to see Ya.
Another great roundup of articles for us. Thanks.

Enjoyed it, as always, Michelle.
Hello JT always good to see ya!
I am pleased you enjoyed the round up.
My fingers are currently crossed that Kemi makes it through to the final two but it is hard to say. The Tory conference just sounded dismal.
I don't think Paddy has any interest in any sort of "sharing" menu.
