It was a good time. Truly an experience. I doubt I will go to Belfast again but it was good to go in a way. When I first came over here in the mid 1980s, there was no way I would have ever gone. Even last night, they did not have bins on the playing field so at the end we had to walk through the rubbish. If you brought a bag in, you had to be scanned.
Glad you enjoyed Bruce, New Jersey’s best export. I’ve lived here for a few decades now, but it’s funny to remember that, growing up in Birmingham, AL in the late ‘70s, we had to listen to the “alternative radio station” if we wanted to hear “Born to Run.” SO subversive. 🤣
I haven't seen Blue Lights but I do believe the second season has just come out in the UK. It takes a little time for it to appear on Brit Box.
The Troubles are always there. I noticed how the Belfast Telegraph spoke of a young Catholic woman rather than simply a young woman in one of their stories on Friday. Her religion played no part in the story. There is still sectarian violence but at least people do not want to return to the bombings etc. And because Ireland is more prosperous today, there is no great appetite on the part of the Irish government to want reunification. It is just something to tweak a few tails with.
There is a lot of poverty in the city -- loads of abandoned buildings including things like the old crown court.
That is a truism for most artists. But the songs can speak to people on a number of different levels. I enjoyed that film 'Blinded by the Light' about how a Sikh boy found purpose in his life through Springsteen's songs.
Hello Northumberland!
No apologies needed or accepted. It's great You had such a great time. And good to see Paddy, as always.

He did Born to Run which was great.
It is just so funny. And it was So huge in Belfast -- apparently the little girl he hugged was on the NI Today show talking about the experience.
