Badenoch was excellent in her response! And yes, I do believe she is correct in that people have been trying to trans away the gay. I’m surprised no one heard my applause from across the pond.
At last people are saying truth!
Paddy is adorable! Have fun with Santa Paws.
For me, my 5 year old, Abbey, a rescue from TiJuana, her Christmas gift will hopefully be cataract surgery as she has early genetic induced fast growing cataracts and she has lost most of her vision in just the past 6 months. It is imperative to have the surgery done before the retina atrophies. As with everything else there is a shortage of good ophthalmologist veterinarians and there is a waiting list. We will travel this weekend 6 hours to another state to see if she qualifies (good retinas) and will have surgery in January. She went from catching frisbees to not being able to see it on the ground. The things we do for our beloved pups.
Oh my goodness, I didn't even know cataract surgery for pets was a thing. How wonderful you have found a surgeon who will do it. As someone who had early onset cataracts, I feel deep sympathy with Abbey. Fingers crossed that all goes well. Let me know as I am v interested.
Your first link (telegraph) is behind their paywall. I am going to subscribe when there is a better deal. The second link worked. Thanks for that.
Yes, on cataract surgery for dogs. Apparently it is a very lucrative profession-as that addition on home or different set of wheels will have to take a back seat for now.
The Telegraph does do deals every so often. I find calling up and threatening to cancel is v good for them putting me on a decent tariff.

I can imagine on the cost but it will be worth it. The love a dog gives is priceless. Fingers crossed for a reputable surgeon who will give an accurate prediction of likelihood of success.
Also, I’ve checked out the surgeon who has great reviews on outcome-short on personality. Who cares as long as my dog can see for many reas to come! Thank you for your good wishes.
I am just so pleased that the first Minister for the Gaza Strip (aka Hamza Yousaf, First Minister for Scotland) failed in his attempt to overturn the S35 block which the UK government put on the Scottish Gender Recognition Reforms.
Hello Northumberland! This is Central Ohio calling, a little late.
I can't get over how sound Kemi is, in her thinking and her speech. Biden, too, is guilty of forcing gays to be straight. It's a crime that goes unpunished because it's being promoted from the top over here. That was a great quote on "X (formerly Twitter)". TY for both-a those links.
I'm glad to see You have new rules on referring kids to transgender clinics. It's good that it will require parental approval. However the 8,000 currently in line can skirt this rule. And 7 years old? That is pretty unbelievable, to me anyway. And I'm incredulous that there's any question about letting men play football against women. TY again for these links.
I didn't know anything about all the different Conservative factions. Interesting.
Scotland sounds as bad off in education as we are over here.
And haha on the pic of Paddy. Here's to hoping he ends up on the nice list. And does that mean they've accepted "Tempted by Her Forbidden Warrior" as is? Hope so.
TYTY, Michelle. Quite a roundup and, as always, an eye opener.
Yes he does know it. A totally spoilt dog, but lovely. And he wants to be a good dog. However sometimes things happen. His full name of Paddington is actually very apt.
ANd the breaking news:
Scotland lost its challenge. The UK government acted lawfully when it blocked Scotland's gender reforms. https://twitter.com/BBCJamesCook/status/1733094327365079501?s=20

Congrats on the new title!

Kemi is just brilliant, isn't she? The former Labourite Tom Harris has done an op-ed for the Telegraph about Badenoch finding Labour's weak spot and exploiting it. She definitely touched a nerve. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/12/08/kemi-badenoch-is-becoming-keir-starmers-biggest-headache/ or https://archive.is/1Clpe

Good to know about the archive link.

All good here, other than politics. What can one say, but to hope for the future?

Yes indeed one has to hope for the future.
Oops, posted on wrong comment. Ah well... ;-)
Glad to "hear" the news, Michelle! TY for replies.
Always hope for the future. The present is sometimes bleak but we’ve been having a few silver linings lately!

Paddy is hugely spoilt so I expect he will end up on the nice list.
Me getting a title should mean they have accepted it but I haven't had formal notification yet -- should be in the next week.
I share your incredulity on many counts and am v grateful that they put Badenoch in a position where she could actually achieve some good.
Hope all is well with you.
Paddy is adorable and he obviously knows it.
