In the states, we prefer the anodyne "intelligence analyst" to "spy". It sounds much less like we're spying, because we certainly don't. We do have experts who will tell us what all the other governments are doing, but by *analyzing (or analysing) intelligence*. Totally not spying.
But I dunno. You say St. Patrick's Day? Seems more like April Fools' Day.
The German army? You need to get a doctors note to get a change of clothes don't fit?
I couldn't finish the article on Eleanor Williams. Can't You folks sue for defamation? Never heard of a better case for it.
Glad to see that one woman get it for banning "TERFs" from employment.
Of course, I've heard-a thought policing, but Oxfam's 92 pager? That can't be right. Off-a that one I skimmed an article about the canceled and pert-near-destroyed Gary Linehan. Oh! I guess it's Graham.
Reparations, shmeparations. Had to become big biz, like the rest is.
I didn't read the article about the boys and the unisex loos. I don't believe that actually took place. Otherwise, one would hafta question why North Caroline, I think it was, got cancelled for passing the so-called-infamous "bathroom bill." Or mebbe that kind-a stuff can only occur over there across the pond. I dunno sometimes.
I guess I'm in a snarky mood. Nothing snarky about me pointing out that, yet once again, You have Your eye on the ball, Michelle. I hope the copyedits are complete, and new books is ready for the presses. (Or You can get that latter finished tomorrow, if it takes a little extra time. ;-)
Copy edits all done and back with my editor. I polished my halo as I spotted that the copy editor had confused blond and blonde. Blonde is the feminine and I was talking about a little girl's hair.
I have seen the photos of the girl who had the door donkey-kicked into her face. It is a growing problem over here. Something which was never supposed to happen...according to the activists.
Because this just happened in Scotland -- Nicola Sturgeon's husband who was running the SNP has been forced to resign over his handling of misreporting the membership numbers.
It is a huge win and there will be more to come out in the wash.
He tried to oust Joanna Cherry from the party so she is probably fairly happy that it happened on her birthday. https://archive.is/XrZ5F
Oh! Apologize for the delay, Ma'am. I sometimes shut down email pretty early, so I can concentrate on other things.
Mr Murrel: “While there was no intent to mislead ..." Wasn't much of an intent to NOT mislead, either. TY for the link.
I meant to ask You, Michelle, if You ever read Marilynne Robinson. I read three of her books. The first was "Gilead" which won the Pulitzer. TY for writing, as always. Hope all going well there.
I haven't but I will put her on my To Be Read list. I always love learning about new to me authors.
I thought you'd find the news amusing. Equally Labour are apparently doing a rethink as Starmer does not want to do a 'Sturgeon' https://archive.is/QNKdt
It is going to be interesting to see what scandals suddenly emerge after this. Sturgeon for many years has been Teflon coated.
No, I would never wanna do a 'Sturgeon' either! Who would?!?
Yeah, will be interesting.
The books I read besides "Gilead" were "Home," and "Lila." What was interesting was it was more-or-less the same scenes from three different people's POV.
I think that was the breed of dog that George C. Scott as Patton had. The real Patton had a dog named Willie, though Willie was played by a dog named "Abraxas Aron" in the movie. I love the look of the dog!
And my Golden Retriever, Henry, would not stand for such a hat either.

Duly noted. <said with a very wry smile>
Excellent column, Michelle! You've got the TGIF rhythm down, and the facts are really interesting.
Thank you. I try. I think my family are grateful that I am bending their ear about these. And I am trying to do archived to get around paywalls.
The Oxfam guide has to be seen in its full tone policing horror.
I read this really interesting article on 'cute authoritarianism' just before I saw the Oxfam guide. It describes what Oxfam are doing beautifully. https://areomagazine.com/2023/03/15/cute-authoritarianism/?fbclid=IwAR2N6-EeaVy9yrPEHzhaMgjFTMDSWdm9lRFVpgkDz7sep60O3gVvBZPAY7M
Another set of insightful commentary, Ma'am.

TY for reply, Michelle. TRA should never say "never," right?

Have a good weekend, Michelle.
Love the look of that dog in the picture. What breed?
White bull terrier, according to the stock photo. English bull terrier. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bull_Terrier
I have a border collie and an English Springer -- neither of which would wear a hat like that!
I think that was the breed of dog that George C. Scott as Patton had. The real Patton had a dog named Willie, though Willie was played by a dog named "Abraxas Aron" in the movie. I love the look of the dog!

Golden Retrievers are great.
My English Springer is currently doing puppy gundog class -- a couple are in that.
According to Wikipediae, Budweiser used that breed to push Bud Light back in the late 1980s.
And yes Patton had a white bull terrier named Willie who ended being confined to quarters for some problem with Eisenhower.
Willie bit that guy Eisenhower!
Spuds McKenzie. Late ‘80s advertising and merch phenomenon for Bud!
My family had an English Springer when I was in high school. He was an amazing dog. Smartest dog ever.
Spaniels are different from Border Collies. Spaniels have their own idea about doing things. Collies are v quick and tend to be more focused.
It is a learning curve, but he loves gun dog class. We are not going to shoot but it is more about getting him to use his nose and think.
My dad used to take the dog bird hunting. They both loved it.
