These are the sentencing remarks for the Just Stop Oil case and are worth a read. https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/07/R-v-Hallam-and-others.pdf

Hello Northumberland! Good to see Ya on this Friday.

Another fine roundup. I see that Dr. Webberly claims she doesn't treat patients. So she side-steps responsibility by a technicality. Typical. Like I said before, glad to see the sentences handed down.

Paddy is looking good. Hope the wall is fixed soon.

TY, as always, Michelle.

And because I know you like Kemi Badenoch -- here she is giving the new Deputy Leader a short lesson in government. https://x.com/Conservatives/status/1814296123659731221

I knew you did which is why I thought you'd really enjoy it. She was on top form.

And you should read this report from Prof Appleby into the claims that banning PB have caused suicides. Basically there is no link, no spike and he has requested the Trans Activists (even naming some of them in a highly unusual step) to stop as they are creating ideation. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/review-of-suicides-and-gender-dysphoria-at-the-tavistock-and-portman-nhs-foundation-trust/review-of-suicides-and-gender-dysphoria-at-the-tavistock-and-portman-nhs-foundation-trust-independent-report

Webberley is a piece of work, isn't she?

I am v glad to see the sentences handed down. Democracy requires the rule of law, no matter how passionately one believes in one's cause. And it is possible to affect through lawful protest -- for example gay marriage.

I have always lived by the creed to take care of myself and never wait for anyone else (especially government-even local) to do so. So, Michelle, great decision to .get on with the tree removal/wall rebuild and not waiting for the council. Yes, let the insurance company hash it out with the council and be done with the headache of the inconvenience! Congratulations and Paddy be free to roam!

Very interesting about your bees. Is it the temperature?

Yes in part it is the temperature and the days and days of solid rain. They have to eat even if they are not flying.

I really objected to the fact that 1. my insurance premium will most likely rise and2. I will have to pay the deductible when the council should have just sorted as it is their responsibility. What was amusing was that surveyor for the insurance company said that the price quoted as v reasonable, the council said it was extortionate.

The councillor I was dealing then said that he had someone who owed him a favour etc etc. That man is now going to come and removed the other dead trees on the plot of land which more than likely belongs to the council.

Thanks for linking the sentencing memo. Those folks need to cool their heels in custody!

Also happy to see you’ve removed the surplus “n” in your first sentence!

The dangers of cut and paste because you think you know what it says...

I thought the remarks were v telling about what had been going on. Obviously there were lots of antics in the courtroom which lengthened the trial considerably. I suspect they will appeal.

Ah, yes, self-editing is always an issue because you see what you know you meant, but not what your actually wrote. Tricks of the mind. I have that problem!

It is why I am always grateful for my editor and copy editor. Even still, sometimes things slip by. A friend once put the wrong date for Waterloo at the start of her Regency and no one noticed until an irate reader emailed her. And my friend was like -- I know the date, how could I not see that it was wrong.
