So unexpected. It cuts through everything and makes it very clear. It is amazing that the Western world ended up in this confuzzled state.
It is going to take some time for the implications to work their way through as certain people do not want to admit they were totally wrong and gave the wrong interpretation of the law.
Congrats on the Supreme Court victory! It has been a very long time coming. I've been aware and following the UK situation since before the Man Friday days (2018 a google search tells me!). Hopefully, you can excise Stonewall and Mermaids and all the other baddies. Susie Green is such a deeply evil person. A major battle has been won but the war is a long one.
Thank you for the Foreign Policy link, what a horrific situation. I'm not sure what else to say, it is so dark.
Have a very Happy Easter! Paddy would look extra cute for the two seconds he would tolerate bunny ears. 🐰
Yes the war is a long one. There are many who would like to see the homophobic Susie Green punished. The medical scandal she caused and continues to cause is horrific in the extreme. The NHS had to warn doctors not to engage with her unlicenced clinic Anne Healthcare the other week.
I look forward to Allison Bailey meeting Stonewall in Court of Appeal (no listing yet). Stonewall seriously misrepresented the law.
Yes the Ukraine situation is horrific. It is v dark. Every day I read the Institute update -- the front line doesn't move. The Russians have started to use chemical weapons dropped by drones. It is why the gas masks are so important.
I see from the Iran update that China are supplying the Houthi with satellite intel against the US.
Paddy would look cute. I agree. He does like to eat rabbits ears as chews.
I have a question for you. It's a genuine question, I really am not trying to troll you, and it is something that I have been wondering about for the last day or so.
The Supreme Court ruled on the Equality Act, which was a law passed in 2010. What is stopping Labour from simply passing a new Equality Act 2.0 2025, which would explicitly state that trans individuals are guaranteed access to all spaces? Labour currently has a massive majority in Parliament, so they could push something like that through with little difficulty if they so desired.
I celebrate the Supreme Court's ruling. But I am puzzled why this is being treated as anything other than a temporary victory. What am I missing?
An excellent question and I am so pleased you asked it!
Because Labour don't want to open up that particular set of worms. There are a significant number of Labour MPs who are gender critical and who now hold power. Blue Labour for instance is gender critical. MacSweeney is Blue Labour and he is ensuring his policies get through as he wants to keep Labour in power.
Momentum which included the LGBT+ wing (so the hugely progressive far left) has been marginalized. MacSweeney started it when he started moving against the antisemites and forced Corbyn out.
Polling shows that the GC stance is supported by 80% of voting populace.
The diehards who support succeeded at first because they silenced all critical voices. It was part of the Denton law playbook because they knew it was not where most of the populace wanted to be. They were far too draconian and stirred a grassroots backlash. Most of the original backlash in the UK came from Labour supporting women, partly because Labour had 'women only' shortlists which the TRA activists opened up to trans-women. One doesn't have to agree with women only shortlists btw to see why the new policy would put backs up.
I also think the full ramifications will take awhile to filter through. Publishing, for example, is v captured. They tend to punish women far more than men. So they went after the Kath Stocks but not the Doug Murrays.
What it means (sorry you are getting this because I thought of another way to explain) is that there is no more stealth mixed sex in the UK where institutions etc state they are single sex but are really mixed sex to those who have the secret handshake and can exclude those who don't. Things are now single sex (limited to certain areas for reasons of privacy, safety, fairness and dignity) or they are mixed sex open to all. No more pretending that there is this halfway house called 'gender'.
I know as their current stance is a massive vote loser for them.
The certain parties in the UK like the Lib Dems and the Greens (no idea why they became so captured) are also going to have to do some hard thinking.
There are a lot of right-on luvvies who have suddenly discovered that they were on the very wrong side of the law and history. Much gnashing and wailing going on.
The court ruled that "trans people were entitled not to be discriminated against or indeed harassed".
What a shame. Of course mentally ill folks should be discriminated against when they act out their madness. They are wierd in the extreme and the rest of society needs to be able to laugh at and mock them.
Until this simple, common sense behavior is legal, England is going to be constantly litigating behavior of interactions with these weirdos. What a waste of public resources.
People who are mentally ill are not entitled to harass other people. A mental illness is an explanation for behaviour, but it never excuses it.
People are entitled to set boundaries and the boundaries have been firmly set in the UK now with regards to the legal exceptions. Single sex spaces are biologically determined, not certificated. Most things are mixed sex by default btw. There is no longer this fig leaf of gender. So it is perfectly fine if Girl Guides wants to be mixed sex with an emphasis on the female experience, but they can no longer say -- we are single gender and therefore can exclude effeminate boys (or indeed any boys) and indeed they could never (and were wrong to do so) exclude masculine girls. An institution is either single sex or it is mixed sex. It can't be certificated sex as it is impossible to police.
The various sects of Islam in general if followed precisely do believe that only their sect should be allowed political power. Everyone else should be disenfranchised. It is why the desired caliphate would never work because each sect vies for ultimate control. The Ottomans were never able to control the Iranians or vice versa. And the splintering has only grown over time.
Many Muslims are not political. Many just want to get on with their ordinary lives. Some are incredibly secular.
For too long that particular religion has been ruled by jurists who issued fatwas (legal opinions) about everything. Some of these fatwas have hardened to hadiths but they were really just bigoted opinions which need to be taken into context of the political milieu and were incorrect in the first place. They need a Martin Luther type figure to reform it. Someone who takes it away from the outward forms of piety as showing that they are 'elect' to the inward examination of the soul. But that is my own opinion.
As I happen to believe in the enfranchisement of all philosophical beliefs within the political system, any belief which believes in disenfranchisement of others should not allow to gain control and that particular aspect of the belief system should be actively discouraged with the ultimate goal of abandonment. It is a balancing act.
Ultimately I dislike the state making windows into people's souls. And it is whatever gets a person through the long dark night. This idea of enfranchisement for multiple belief systems is America's greatest gift to the world and Western society imho.
I am comforted and frankly a bit euphoric when someone who has done the deep dive confirms that which I've concluded on far more peripheral observation. To bludgeon the analogy to early Christianity a bit more, Islam not only has and has had no Luther, it has various Inquisitions in full swing. And that makes your wannagetalongs moot. IMHO.
Solitary because it is apparently the only way to protect him from harm, given the credible threats against his life. This says something about the overcrowded and dangerous conditions in the UK prison system.
He didn't speak the truth as he lost the liable case. He could have chosen not to repeat the lie about that particular person (there were others to choose from btw) but he opted to ignore the court order. Why he didn't simply choose another example after he lost the court and had to pay £100k, I have no idea. He knew what would happen and it has, so he is doing the time.
Happy Good Friday seems such an oxymoron but I think you know what I mean Michelle. And Happy prospective Easter for He will be risen.
Yes you can't have Easter without Good Friday. It is a hard but necessary day. Truly a black moment for the soul before the miracle of Easter Sunday.
For he has risen indeed.
Happy Easter to you, Michelle, and all who celebrate!
The UK ruling is the best news in a long time. Finally the reset button is hit and it’s long overdue.

You are v welcome. Happy Easter

And that is a very good thing. It would be nice if the Dems over here would get that through their thick heads.
I know as their current stance is a massive vote loser for them.

Hello Northumberland! Great to see You, this fine Friday.
Isn't that the best news You've heard for a while: A woman is a woman. I'm so glad Your Supreme Court got it right.
And Kemi has it right about the Muslim vote. And I was sorry to read Inaya Folarin Iman's article about the extremism in Britain.
I was glad to see Stephen Yaxley-Lennon lose his appeal.
It was shocking to hear how Russia is waging the war. Truly disgusting. I didn't know.
I'm glad to hear the hens are laying. Paddy is wonderful.
Happy Easter to You, Michelle. Appreciate what You do.
Happy Easter to you to JT.
I was so pleased when I heard the judgement read out. In tears.
It’s 18.04 😉
Why yes it is! Thank you.
Islam IS political. You can look it up. In their Book. (Actually, it's transcendental -- to them.)
The various sects of Islam in general if followed precisely do believe that only their sect should be allowed political power. Everyone else should be disenfranchised. It is why the desired caliphate would never work because each sect vies for ultimate control. The Ottomans were never able to control the Iranians or vice versa.
