And this just in: Kemi Badenoch has written to the Inspector of Schools and requested a snap inspection of Rye College on grounds of violating the Equality Act and teaching contested ideas as fact. It is very much Go Kemi! https://twitter.com/FamEdTrust/status/1672183630041423872

Haha! Another *great* roundup, Ma'am. And, yeah. That Max Ghose of the Cambridge Union is a boy who is marked as having everything he needs to go far in politics. Sheesh! From that article in The Critic on social transition:

"Giving a child whatever they think they want is not love. Love is wanting what is best for a child and telling them the truth even if it’s hard to hear. Love is setting boundaries that keep children safe, and then patiently and kindly enforcing them. Love is defending children against ideologies that mean them harm, even when as adults we may pay a price for doing so."

I never had any kids, but even I know this much. How is it that teachers and school administrators don't? It's impossible, but so.

I had "Unfair Play" on my list, but I highlighted it to move it up.

Thanks, Michelle, as always. For everything. Enjoy Glastonbury!

I shall be watching that little bit on Sunday of Glastonbury -- actually being there sounds like a special type of purgatory. I have been to music festivals in the past in the UK and well, the plumbing leaves something to be desired.

Still waiting to hear from my editor on the revised partial and working on my Murrow book in case you were wondering.

Unfair Play was more interesting than I thought it would be. The publisher said the stats and the science were good and so it proved. ANd the IOC stuff was fascinating.

I've been reading headlines about those kids identifying as cats/dinosaurs/what-have-you's. n(The headlines appeared in various tabloids I'm ashamed to be reading.)

I figured the headlines HAD to be some sort of a joke.

They're not?

Apparently not. Katharine Birabalsingh has the documented proof apparently. Some people think it is students taking the mickey, or it could be a huge red flag issue on safeguarding. Either way, students should not be being indulged. The neo pronoun etc thing is really undermining teacher authority as students chop and change at will.

Badenoch ordered the investigation because of the teacher's reaction to the students' protected belief that biological sex is immutable. And it would appear she has found a way around the civil servants in the Education Dept who have been on a go slow on this issue.

Kids are _so_ good at taking adult idiocies to reductio ad absurdum conclusions, aren't they? 😀

They are.

I was just reading this article about lockdowns, children and the damage done. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/06/22/children-lockdown-sacrifices-paying-price/ or https://archive.is/tVXEV

And I just found this article by the Daily Mail. I know they put out a call on the WRN for people who had actual experience with this.
