I don't know but I certainly think it is coming (or at least I hope it is). I also think it is v worrying that GIDS isn't able to say that none of them had physical intervention.
The lawsuits are beginning to pile up here. We’ll see what happens.
Happy New Year to you, the family and Paddy! And to everyone else here! We had a bought of flu in my house that thankfully didn’t get me but we’re all on the mend. And I’m fostering two kittens who are wild! I’m really looking forward to this year.
I'll find the link, but I did read that malpractice insurance is charging extraordinary high premiums because they see the writing on the wall. This is being framed as some right wing attack, but insurance companies are pretty good at running the numbers so I don't believe that at all.
I know one of the major Australian insurance companies decided to stop offering it as the damages were potentially unquantifiable.
I suspect it is not a 'right wing' attack but a case of running the numbers and people beginning to understand what the damages could be. There is no reliable test for saying that childhood gender incongruence will be definitely develop into adult gender dysphoria. This contrasts with something like Tourette's which is why they were able to say that Tik Tok Tourettes was psycho-somatic.
Hello Northumberland! Greetings! This is Central Ohio calling.
I'm ashamed that I ever gave the SPLC money. I finally stopped a couple years ago, when I saw which way the wind was blowing. They used to put out a pamphlet they used in schools called "Teaching Tolerance." Tolerance has gone by the wayside. Now all they're interested in is "social justice." <puke>
I read, with great interest, the review of "Spies, Lies, and Algorithms." Sounds like a fascinating book. Donno if/when I'll have time to read it tho. I'm such a slow reader. TY for passing that along, Michelle.
That was a very interesting article about the Dem party. It referenced the book "Where Have all the Democrats Gone" by Teixeira and Judis. I have that book on my list, but when? Interesting points made, but I wonder if the Woke Wing of the Dems can even be defeated?
And other great article on the Princess of Wales and fatherhood. Nice catch!
Very pretty puzzle. Sorry to "hear" about the weather and train difficulties tho. And *very* sorry to hear about Your mother-in-law. I've taken Vitamin D for a long time because it helps calcium absorbtion, and I used to have osteoporosis. (Now just osteopenia, fortunately.)
Likewise wishing You, Michelle, and everybody a great 2024. Despite it being an election year here, I'm hopeful.
TY, as always. I don't recall if I read any other news articles this week or not. I've cut back a lot, so doubly appreciate Your articles on all the interesting articles You've found for us. Again, have a Happy and Great New Year, Michelle.
Sometimes reading a review is enough as it hits the highlights.
It is interesting that certain people are seeing the problems with 'wokeness' and appealing to a wide swathe. People go mad in herds and come to their senses one by one.
Brilliant that you now just have osteopenia.
It is going to be an election year for the UK as well as the Tories will have to go to the polls -- unlike the US, the date isn't set. Most likely the autumn as no one likes campaigning in November but who knows.
The SPLC is used as an authoritative source on hate groups by the FBI. It’s become as deeply corrupt as the ones they used to target. Our government needs to cut ties with these ideological charlatans, but we’re conditioned to believe they’re a force for good. They’re exactly the opposite.
Perhaps some day we’ll learn.
Enjoyed this edition as always, Michelle. Common sense is so refreshing and it’s nice to know it’s alive and thriving across the pond.
A niche topic in many ways true, but an interesting one particularly these days. My eldest did Cold War history for his Phd at Cambridge. His supervisor was Chris Andrew. And as a parent does, I became interested. The problem about it not being properly taught in academia is real. Chris had to fight for a long time to get it accepted at Cambridge.
“382 children under the age of 6 were referred in some fashion to GIDS with the youngest being 3.”
How many years will it take before the general public looks at this as a form of Munchausen?

Yes I have seen that. In the US, if malpractice insurance becomes too great, it will become cost prohibitive. Fingers crossed.
Hooray for everyone being on the mend. And hooray for your new Historical Fiction Shack.
Kittens are great but given to outbursts of kittenish behaviour.

Brilliant, Michelle. TY for replying. A lotta authors won't stoop so low.
You donated to SPLC? Yikes. I used to do battle against them in environmental litigation. Ideological zealots not schooled in science.
Live and learn. TY.

S ooo I am curious what lead you to read “Spies, Lies and Algorithms”. A niche topic ...

Thanks. Just ordered the book.
Let me know what you think of it.
