Ahhh...! Once again, Ma'am, You've highlighted the best and the stupidest around. I could only skim the articles this time, because they were so *exceedingly* stupid.

When "woman" becomes persona non grata, You get what You'd expect: A chaotic world where the senseless rule against common sense and the spineless (don't) defend reason. I donno what to say.

It seems that all Your links tie for most senseless and most spineless. But I'll give a gold start to M Woods.

To those who positively ban freedom, and teach scientific lies, I can only add: It just figures. Only to be expected. And swallowed. I'm full-a "it." I think I woke up (ooops! awakened!) Way too early this Friday. But I will say that, viewed from a certain angle, all-a this is so absurd it's almost entertaining. (I did say almost..)

I just finished reading Generations. Zoomers are no better than they should be. How these 20-somethings came to rule the world is pretty astounding. The best educated, most stupid, mentally sick generation ever conceived. Or were they *assigned* a body at birth?!? Ah well...

TY, as always, Michelle. I'm awaiting word from Your agent about the partial. Best o' luck on that, and one Your writing the biography of... Argh. Memory. Was it biography of Murrow? And was Murrow Janet? Well, well! It *is* "my cousin" Janet Murrow. I believe that's the one You're currently working on?

Hope all else going fine in Your neck o' the woods, and You enjoy peak experience during the coronation.

If it wasn't so worrying, it would be funny. I know Magi Gibson's husband Ian MacPhearson is working on a comic novel about his experiences which he hopes will get him cancelled in all the right places. Some writer decided that they could not appear on stage with him at a literature festival as it would cause too much hurt. <eyeroll>

Still waiting on the partial. My agent keeps promising and...but we will get there. I am really enjoying working the Janet Murrow one -- history does repeat. It is the seeing the creeping totalitarianism which is worrying. Freedom of speech does include the freedom to listen. There were people in the early 1940s (America First) who wanted to silence Ed and Janet Murrow. Thankfully Bill Paley did not listen to them.

He’s not my cup of tea but he is growing on me. He’s far better than Biden and the usual suspects in the Party though.

Thank you for the lovely shoutout on the Chief Rabbi’s inclusion. May I point out that in the linked article, it says that religious Jews are prohibited from performing “any type of work” on Shabbat, which isn’t quite true. We’re prohibited from performing *certain* types of work based on 39 specific categories. So while we would walk up a steep hill rather than ride (which seems like way more actual work!), we could, for example, move a heavy piece of furniture inside the house, or run a non-electric carpet sweeper.

It is so thoughtful of the king to accommodate the chief rabbi’s religious needs to include him the service!

Thank you for explaining. I am so pleased you enjoyed it as I remembered you are religiously observant.

You might also enjoy this from the JC about Kashket -- I just went and searched and they are also proudly Jewish. https://www.thejc.com/life-and-culture/all/the-jewish-family-stitching-for-the-king-1QFNoa944a0d8HiTVNxED0

I suspect you would really like the programme as it is just so interesting.

Thank you so much for remembering me, and for that link. I’m always fascinated to read the details of what goes on behind the scenes at an event of this magnitude. Their QC sounds extremely rigorous!

I’m bookmarking that site as it looks like a great resource. There’s another article about one of the officials who will present the imperial mantle, and I found this part especially lovely:

“The baroness will present the cloak as a representative of the Jewish community, accompanied by Hindu crossbench peer Lord Patel, who will carry the sovereign’s ring; Lord Kamall, a London-born Muslim, who will carry the armills — a pair of bracelets — and Lord Singh, a Sikh crossbench peer, who will carry the coronation glove. Lady Merron will hand over the robe to the Archbishop of Canterbury, who, with Prince William, will place it over the King’s shoulders.”

Along with Camilla’s decision not to wear the Koh-i-noor Diamond, Charles is really making an attempt to modernize the monarchy, recognizing how much Great Britain has changed demographically and culturally since his mother’s coronation.

I’ve been following on Instagram the accounts of the RF and Westminster. So many interesting stories, from the names of the white horses who will pull the carriage to the hand-sewn uniforms where QE’s cypher has been removed and KC’s added. So many details and very interesting.

I’m still beyond baffled at how protected anything critical of gender has become. I was never one to believe in conspiracy but there has to be something deeper here that’s driving this and explicit sexual material being pushed into schools. Any opposition to it is being labeled right wing, but I know a LOT of people who have been lifelong democrats who refuse to vote for any democrat in the next election, and this is one of the biggest issues, along with Biden’s incompetence. The only exception would be RFK JR who is getting positive attention from both left and right. But he’ll never win because he states that he’ll make pharmaceutical advertising illegal on TV again, so the billions on pharma and media will never allow that to happen, and he takes an honest position on other issues and we’re so used to lies that he sounds radical.

I know little about RFK jr but I do think the pharma advertising in the US is out of hand.

Maybe he can shake things up a little. JFK certainly did.

The little details are really interesting. It is the whole logistical exercise and what has gone on behind the scenes. I love Seamus the Irish Wolfhound!

Is RFK in on the whole climate agenda? For me that is a huge drawback even though I like his stances on other issues. However he is FAR better than crooked senile Joe.

I looked it up -- he is very much there is crisis with the climate and wants regenerative farming etc etc. How much he could actually do is another question.

There are huge problems imho but demonizing people is not going to solve it. And I don't like Greta Thurberg type panicking or telling people to not to learn. You have to have hope and a firm belief a solution can be found.

Regenerative farming in itself seems like a good thing-it is the whole agenda that I don’t trust. When jobs are created to support the climate agenda data starts being manipulated. Being dependent on any other country to fulfill the objectives(EVs)-puts us in the same position that Europe now finds itself with Russia. Too much too quickly is not good for any country-imo-not to mention I’m fond of cows and don’t want to eat bugs.

Expand full comment
Michelle Styles's avatar

I think the Green Party has totally lost the plot but that is me.

Regenerative farming looks good but not all farms can be turned into theme park a la the Knepp Estate. And I too doubt that bugs will replace beef.

You can do your bit by eating ethically source beef or even something like venison (in the UK because of the damage deer do to young trees etc, the cry is really eat more Bambi).

And you have to be certain that today's solution doesn't become tomorrow's problem.

DO not get me started on the European situation vis a vis energy from Russia etc.

I’m not sure. I hadn’t been paying attention to him but I now follow him on Twitter and he makes a lot of sense. But you know crooked, senile Joe is easier to manipulate and walks the line. Or falls on the line, depending on the day.
