Great roundup as always. Your dog is so cute and the bow tie very fetching!

I'll see myself out...

Thank you. Paddy (short for Paddington) is sweet (most of the time) but he has his moments. It has been a humbling experience to attempt to train a spaniel...totally different to a lab or a border collie.

So pleased you liked the roundup.

They’re such smart dogs. Our Springer was still the smartest dog I ever met.

They are just differently wired than a Border collie who are also intelligent. Springers are much more independent or willing to be away from you if hunting. Collies are bred to herd and so come circling back.

It has been a humbling experience with the recall training. He is starting to get there -- outside with lots of distractions but isn't there fully.

Great round up as always. The Boyne apology is incredible. I wonder how many more are out there who have changed their minds recently but who will never apologize.

My family had a Springer when I was in high school and he went bird hunting with my dad. He’s long gone but my dad still talks about him because they were truly best friends. Love seeing the photo of your pup!

Have a wonderful weekend and stay cool. After a mild and beautiful August we hit 94 degrees yesterday. I’m ready for autumn!

John thought long and hard about what he did and felt the time was right to apologize. He thinks the Roisin Murphy kerfuffle (the Guardian were mean to her again -- 5 star review but mentioned her views on PB and how wrong they were. They then managed to get the community notes explaining why their view was incorrect suppressed -- suspect it has to due with the Guardian having a number of community notes editors on their staff who downvoted it) I suspect there will be a number who like to be 'former Death eaters' and will simply keep quiet.

And Cornerstones who sacked an editor over her GC views have just settled with Sybil Ruth and issued an apology. https://twitter.com/SibylWrites/status/1699922720488554682

The Free Speech Union assisted her.

My goodness! I forgot it was Friday. How could that happen!?

In any event, very pleased with the roundup. And the pic of Paddy made me laugh. Glad to see Kemi (and others) fighting for the cause. It's like the Tory MP Danny Kruger said. TY for link.

TY for *all* the links. It will take me a while to get through them, as I have an couple errands to attend to. But wanted to say TIA (thank You in advance). We had heat this week, after a really mild summer. But cool weather has broke it, and is incredibly wonderful. Hope Your heat spell ends swiftly too. I'm sure Sunday can't come soon enough.

TY, as always, Michelle. You (and Paddy) are a real treat.

Kemi is fighting the good fight. She is now the most popular member of the Conservative government (Ben Wallace having resigned). I was pleased Miriam Cates clarified that Sunak had not decided to reverse course. I had hoped Keegan might have to resign because of her hot mic moment, but she lives on.

Oh and the Guardian gave Roisin Murphy's album 5 stars but did a hit piece review of her in the review. People fact checked the review with a community note (namely that the Guardian was using dubious sources about puberty blockers) but the note has become hidden. Apparently the album is v good.
