Incredible work re: the scrolls. I can’t wait for see what they say. Also incredible that they aren’t dust. The world is truly amazing.
Glad Paddy is getting rest! We were under cloud cover for weeks and rain rain rain. Had water in the basement for the first time in 13 years and it’s been fun! But the sun has shone for two days and it’s like heaven.
They are just incredible. Like you, I want to know what they say. Hopefully we will get some insight into a lost world. I just thought it so amazing.
Sunshine are after a storm always feels amazing. It is why when writing comedy or tragedy, you have to add the shadows and the light. Light always looks brighter when someone has gone through a period of shadow.
It looks as though the tide is beginning to turn on the trans madness. About time!
I cannot tell you how nerdily excited I am about the scrolls at Herculaneum. The technology will only get better, and the thought of finding so much that we thought lost forever is truly thrilling. And I have deep gratitude towards those visionaries of the 17th century who didn’t throw them out as useless lumps of charcoal.
Btw, I read/listened to Mary Beard’s _Emperor of Rome_ last week and for the most part enjoyed it. I was slightly annoyed at the woke tone that crept through in places, but chalked it up to editorial pressure.
Poor Paddy! My dogs also hate to go out in the rain. Curl up on the sofa with him and listen to Dar Williams’ wonderful song “February,” which always gets me through this time of year.
I am so glad to find another enthusiast for the scrolls. I love Herculaneum in general. But you are right about the visionaries who didn't throw them out! Have you ever read the Sisters of the Sinai about the women who went to St Catherine's and discovered one of the earliest copies of the New Testament? The monks were using the books as scrap paper. They later helped to discover some Jewish writing in Alexandria.
Mary Beard can be woke at times. She is a Cambridge academic who has her own sense of the ridiculous. And of course there is always editorial pressure.
I will make sure I listen to Dar Williams.
And my fingers are so firmly crossed that the tide is turning on this as I think it has done a great deal of damage to vulnerable people.
Kemi Badenoch has been brilliant although it really doesn’t take brilliance to see that transing away the gay has been happening. Kemi has a way of cutting through the BS and stating the obvious. I’m not sure why everyone else has been so blind. I do believe that all of the money behind the trans movement by certain trans billionaires helped to muddy the waters of understanding. My belief is that the trans billionaires poured money into the movement to add numbers to their ranks thereby validating their own lives with the numbers who joined them. Very narcissistic.
There are none so blind but those who refuse to see.
Kemi is excellent and she seems to be getting better. Being in charge of Business and Trade has been good for her.
I do think all the money which was poured into the trans movement by the trans billionaires (and others) really helped to muddy the waters. It is v much a Vranyo (Russian for the situation where a person lies, the other person knows that person is lying but is powerless to do anything except accept the lie with a straight face. Putin is a master of it) movement. The question is how much do people play Vranyo with this movement.
That was a great letter she wrote to MP Nokes. I saved it. Like You said, Michelle, the data is clear. It's a travesty that people don't know what's going on. And only in Scotland to people think biological gender doesn't have to do with medical diagnoses. Hopefully they'll learn.
Enjoyed the other articles, but sorry to "hear" the RSL has gone down the tubes. Good ole FSU. That was amazing about the papyri. And great that Paddy has escaped the mud, at least for now.
TY, Michelle, as always. Hope the writing went well, and some got to Your editor.

True that, Michelle. Good to "see" Ya, Alison.
You too! 🙂

Hello Northumberland!
That was a great letter she wrote to MP Nokes. I saved it. Like You said, Michelle, the data is clear. It's a travesty that people don't know what's going on. And only in Scotland to people think biological gender doesn't have to do with medical diagnoses. Hopefully they'll learn.

This news just came in -- another big win for the Gender Critical. The views are worthy of respect within a political party. https://twitter.com/ShahrarAli/status/1755896471591723196 Shahrah Ali v the Green Party.
The FSU is really doing some good.
I am so v pleased about the papyri. It is v exciting to have a good news AI story and to see such teamwork.
The writing is going. My editor will be getting some chapters early part of next week.
