If Musk is right about the number of bots on Twitter then we should just call it what it is: an outrage machine that monetizes attention and greatly enriches a handful of people.
Organizations should have rules in place that you don’t take an internal conflict and resolve it in this ridiculous public forum. I realize this isn’t exactly an internal organizational conflict, but if all are members of the society then it technically counts as one.
I hope Clanchy receives justice, if there is such a thing in this case. What about her career now? I feel terrible for her. What’s the end game to the outrage/hysteria culture?
Hopefully publishing will get some backbone. One of the Observer's (the Sunday edition of the |Guardian) columnists Sonia Sodha did a column on CLanchy's hounding back in January. She retweeted it today along with the letter etc and said that she didn't know how bad it was.
Hi. You deleted a comment I replied to, on a different forum. If that was because-a something I wrote, I wrote it all wrong. Apologize. I think I've agreed with *everything* You've written so far. I don't always write so hot, so there is that.
Hi no it wasn’t that at all. I’m trying (but sometimes it’s hard not to!) not to comment much anymore because in the next few months I’m starting a creative writing Substack and I’m going to change to my real name.
This sounds paranoid, but I’m afraid something I write will come back to haunt me later if I ever get published. So no, it wasn’t you at all! I love reading your comments and I always agree with you!
TYTY yet again, Ma'am. No, I hadn't seen Bull's Eye's reply until now. Interesting article. I don't agree with all-a it tho.
"This is why the strand of anti-racist thinking that is obsessed with the blame and shame all white people should bear for structural discrimination is so corrosive to common cause and understanding. White people who do nothing to challenge racism are terrible, but white people who trip up when trying to do something about it are even worse."
But that's just me. And, still, it was a great article. I hope it gets a lotta attention.
I don't quite understand one part-a Your reply. Yeah, I gather You in lofty heights. But *You* have imposters syndrome? That what You're "saying?" Or You mean something else I'm not understanding. Because, if so, that's *Ridiculous!* You keep doing You, is all, right?
At any rate, I always enjoy what You write, of the non-fictional kind. I might even like the fiction You write because, generally, I like everything I read that has interesting characters. And all are, so there is that. TY again, Michelle.
(Sorry, got sidetracked.) Phew! That was one *solid* article there!
I'm still not sure I understand what You're talking about with this "imposter syndrome." Correct me where I'm wrong. Didn't You write a letter and give it to some other important person. Who published it, mebbe after modifying it a bit? To Joanna Williams and the Board of SoA? And to who all else needed to see it? Or am I remembering wrong?
If THAT'S what You're talking about with this imposter syndrome, I don't understand it much. I can't see You've much to worry about. But that's just me. I forget a lotta things, and misunderstand a lot to boot. So I may just be confused.
Plus I slept very poorly last night and didn't go out for my daily constitutional this morning. IOW, have had better days. I wrote about ten hours ago and "said" I thought I'd spend most-a the day reading fiction. ("The Ink Black Heart.") Funny how all that worked out. Just now starting and will eat dinner in about an hour. Ah well... :-)
ALL that to say... Thank You both, Michelle and Bull's Eye. Enjoy the M/A/E (Morning/Afternoon/Evening) You two!
Thank you. Sometimes I do suffer from Crows of Doubt attacking me -- my current work in progress is going much slower than it normally does. Still little by little.
Enjoy Ink Black Heart.
It is great seeing Jo Rowling be proved right about her principled stance on children with gender dysmorphia. Various celebs and companies racing to distance themselves from Mermaids. It reads v much like the UK charity Kid's Company which collapsed under scandal after getting free passes from the media a few years ago.
TY for writing, Ma'am. I can't recall. Are You under a *hard* deadline with Your new book?
Yeah, enjoying.
And *double* yeah! Older-Sister said on Zoom this past weekend that JKR was "controversial." I was *real* tempted to send both-a them the essay JKR wrote on the subject. Anybody that couldn't see free and clear after reading that, would *never* be able to see the truth of the matter.
I never heard-a Kid's Company but hope same happens to Mermaids. *Really* hoping for that. Looking good so far, at least. (Wish same happened over here. Mebbe, in time...) TY again, Michelle. :-)
Thank You, as always Ma'am. I should sure *hope* there's some fall out about Mermaids. May get a chance to read article after lunch (and short errand).
You're no spring chicken when it gets to being published are You? Or, I dunno... What?

Wishing You GREATEST SUCCESS on Your new endeavor. And You probably not being paranoid.
TY for kind words. (You're TOO kind! :-)
Thank you! I appreciate you!
Aw shucks, Ma'am.
Still, I WIN!!
I was appreciating You FIRST!!! (So Ha! ;-)
So much for not commenting! 😂
Interesting. TYTY, Ma'am.
That's some crowd You're involved with. That's putting it mildly, and letting J. Harris off all too easily. Dunno. TY again.
I feel I am in the v lofty heights with certain people 9real imposters syndrome) ...but there again we are supposedly there on merit. In case you didn't get my note to Bull's Eye -- Sonia Sodha did a column about the whole affair back in Jan. Having read the leaked letter, she freely admitted on twitter that she didn't know the half of it. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2022/jan/23/the-hounding-of-kate-clanchy-has-been-a-witch-hunt-without-mercy

Yes I do get Imposter Syndrome -- probably it is because no one is born published.
It has received some attention, but really the Mermaids latest is taking up some space. Basically until yesterday, one of the trustees had links to paedophilia networks and had presented papers at a conference in 2011. Mermaids works with vulnerable children and people with that sort of background are not considered suitable., He resigned yesterday. There may be more fall out. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/trustee-of-the-transgender-charity-mermaids-quits-over-speech-to-paedophile-aid-group-jkjn2jrk9

I’d love to say unbelievable, but it isn’t.
