Boy! You're v early this morning, Ma'am. With Your usual outstanding lineup of the trials and travails from across the pond.
JKR is SO funny! Go VLAD..
And that quote of Orwell's? Perfect. But I'm afraid it won't survive the sensitivity readers of today. At the very least, they'll issue a trigger warning: "Caution: Truth follows."
TY for posting "Asleep at the Wheel." I'm amazed M Keegan and Sunak actually read the report, and then ACTED on it. You guys are so far ahead of us in the US. We don't have anything over here like that. Can we borrow M. Cass and the Policy Exchange?
Oh! Almost forgot. SNP must stand for Sloppy NincomPoops, right? But GO COMMUNISTS. Go figure.
TYTY, as always, Michelle. Do You hafta do anything to get Your most recent book published? Writing on new book going well? All's well here, other than the usual insanity. (Mine and the country's. ;-) TY again.
UP early because I went out and did curlew surveying on a farm in very rural Northumberland called Goatstones. It has a stone circle but more importantly I discovered a pair of curlews nesting. I now have to input the data so the nest protection team can swing into action. Curlews are highly endangered.
The COmmunist thing made me laugh so hard. YOu had various TRA denouncing as being fascists and Nazis which is just hilarious. They do not take any prisoners the CP.
I sent my partial (first 3 chapters) off to my agent finally. I am now starting to think about a few other projects which I could revise. I don't want to go any further with this one until she says -- yes fine as she has great eyes for spotting plot holes etc.
I shouldn'a started on my taxes when I knew You'd be writing. Ah well... At least looks like estimated payments pretty much covered this years tax.
I dunno if I know what a curlew is or not. Is it particular to the UK? Either Way, bless Your pointed little head for "doing the work." Of the useful kind.
TRA never cease to play to form. Dunces. What else can one say?
And sounds like You've made excellent progress in Your writing. I'm using the "long arm-a the law" to reach out and pat You on the back, Michelle. You keep knockin 'em outta the park, Ma'am.
I’m having that discussion here with the elementary school. I asked to see the materials for the 5th grade health curriculum and I’ve only been given an outline. I’ve been assured by his teacher that the discussions won’t go any further than need be. I know I’m not the only parent who has expressed concern, especially after seeing the state of NJ curriculum.
A friend in NY State is having a major battle with the board of Ed in her town over the DEI and health curriculum that’s being presented to her second grader.
People always say to pull the kids from public school, but we’re in the NYC suburbs where just the cost of living is high enough, with our home costs and especially property taxes. This makes private school unaffordable for many families. To give you an idea, Catholic school is around $10k/yr for lower grades and $20k for high school. The popular private school in my area starts at $27k for kindergarten and almost $50k for HS.
Thankfully, I’m not finding it being pushed in this school system, but I personally know parents in other states that are having a hard time.
Hopefully the report will help -- I thought it v good with referencing the studies. The lack of good studies for this ideology is deeply troubling. What is happening is they are blunting a v good medical tool -- social transitioning -- for no good purpose. Schools do not give out paracetmol or put a band-aid on without informing parents. Social transition is the same type of medical intervention.
I do think it is an all over the Anglosphere problem. And it is patchy -- depending on the head teacher and the school board etc etc.
And the prices for private schools are crazy. They have gone up above and beyond the rate of inflation.
David Gray, the British singer songwriter, popular in the 1990s is involved in the project as he loves curlews. Sail Away was one of his big hits. The project is being run through the RSPB and the EU LIFE project. Because it is LIFE, they actually have some money...Anyway, it is my little bit to help save this lovely bird. They are so pretty when they fly.
I dunno much about the music scene back then. But I gotta say:
That's a big bird. Up to 2 ft tall? Wingspan over 3 ft? "Curlew" is very vaguely familiar, so might read it in a book. TY for info, Michelle. As far as those Crows, that's a bird One can find anywhere. Never up to any good.

And a quick PS the Secretary for Education has finally been forced to act: https://twitter.com/GillianKeegan/status/1641811408508600320
It is a victory for parents' rights.

Nuthin like that over here. Shameful, but great on You guys. You're light years ahead.
A curlew is a type of British wading bird. This will tell you more about them. https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/wildlife-guides/bird-a-z/curlew/

Thank you for chasing my Crows of Doubt away JT.
